What is Testofen and What is it Used for?

Testofen is a patented herbal supplement manufactured by Gencor Nutrients Incorporated.

It’s designed to help men naturally increase their levels of the male sex hormone testosterone.

This is important because testosterone plays numerous important roles within the body. In men, testosterone can impact sexual desire, sperm production, bone density, muscle mass, strength, and fat distribution. It also has an impact on red blood cell production, and much more. Testosterone plays a significant role during puberty, and is essential to men’s overall health.

Men usually produce the most testosterone during their late 20s and early 30s. After that, production rates drop by an average of 1.6% each year. In other words, your total testosterone levels could decrease by 25% by the time you turn 40. These levels can be determined with a simple blood test.

To maintain your health and strength, it's important to find ways to support your testosterone production as you age.

Testofen is specifically formulated with the goal of increasing free testosterone. Free testosterone is the small percentage of your total testosterone concentration. It is considered “free” because it is not bound to any protein.

What are the Proposed Benefits of Testofen?

Testofen is designed to help address testosterone deficiency. This can lead to boosted libido and sex drive, a loss of body fat, increased energy levels, and enhanced muscle strength. Men often use Testofen to improve their sex lives and enhance their athletic performance.

What are the Ingredients in Testofen?

The primary ingredient of Testofen is fenugreek extract – known scientifically as Trigonella foenum-graecum.

Historically, fenugreek has been used as a flavoring agent for food, beverages, tobacco products, and cosmetics. It is especially known for its use in Indian cuisine.

Fenugreek is also used medicinally. Besides its effect on testosterone levels, it has been studied for its potential effects on blood sugar and menstrual cramps.

Its power is thought to come from saponin glycosides, organic compounds from plants. Your body uses saponins glycosides to decrease the number of lipids (fats) in your blood, along with various other functions.

The fenugreek extract in Testofen has been standardized into a proprietary ingredient Gencor has dubbed “Fenuside”. In marketing materials, Gencor describes Fenuside as a “proprietary matrix of saponin glycosides” with remarkable physical benefits.

How Does Testofen Work?

Testosterone is naturally synthesized in your body from cholesterol. There are two different types of cholesterol. High-density lipoprotein (HDL) is good cholesterol. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) is bad cholesterol. High levels of LDL have been linked to low testosterone.

The saponin glycosides in fenugreek can help ward off LDL cholesterol and its negative effects. So by lowering the LDL cholesterol in your blood, Testofen could support higher free testosterone levels.

One study looked into the potential effects of Testofen and had some compelling results. Over 12 weeks, 120 men aged between 43 and 70 were given either a 600-milligram dosage of Testofen or a placebo.

By the end of the study, the men receiving the Testofen reported improved sexual function, increased morning erections, and more frequent sexual activity. They also had higher levels of serum testosterone and free testosterone.

Another study yielded similar results. Over eight weeks, 138 men aged 25 to 47 were enrolled in a daily calisthenic program. Each group was given 600 milligrams of Testofen, 300 milligrams of Testofen, or a placebo. Both groups receiving the Testofen had more physical improvements than the placebo group.

The men taking the 600-milligram supplement lost between 1.2% and 1.4% of body fat while increasing lean mass by 1.8%. Both groups of men receiving the Testofen displayed an increase in testosterone.

What are Other Ways to Boost Your Testosterone Levels?

The studies mentioned above suggest that Testofen can be an effective way to boost your testosterone levels.

However, it’s noteworthy that Testofen and Gencor Nutrients Incorporated were the subjects of a few class action lawsuits. In one case, the complaint alleged that companies selling supplements with Testofen used false, unsupported marketing claims to mislead consumers.

While the lawsuits were resolved, you might want to temper your expectations on the effectiveness of Testofen.

Here are a few alternative options for boosting your testosterone levels:

Improve your diet

Eating more vegetables can promote higher testosterone levels, and healthy side effects that come with it. Leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables are especially beneficial for testosterone production.

Additionally, consider limiting your red meat consumption. Red meat is high in saturated fat which can elevate your blood's bad cholesterol. Instead, opt for leaner proteins like fish. This can reduce unhealthy cholesterol to support higher testosterone levels.

Exercise

Exercise is an effective way to support healthy testosterone production.

Lifting weights has been proven to increase men’s testosterone levels in various studies. Testosterone is necessary in maintaining muscle strength, so building up muscles may signal your body to produce more bioavailable testosterone.

Consider testosterone replacement therapy

For men with dangerously low testosterone levels, undergoing testosterone therapy (also known as TRT) might be beneficial. TRT is a medical procedure in which testosterone hormones are administered into the body.

Injections are perhaps the most common delivery method, and the effects of one dosage may last several weeks or months. Topical gels, patches, and oral options are delivered once or twice daily.

It’s important to note that TRT is a long-term treatment, not a permanent cure. To keep your testosterone levels in a healthy range, you’ll need to continue TRT for the rest of your life.

How Rex MD Can Help

A few studies suggest Testofen may be an effective way to boost your testosterone levels. However, several class action lawsuits suggest otherwise.

If you want to produce testosterone naturally, you should consider making changes to your diet and exercise routine. You might also consider testosterone replacement therapy.

You may also want to add the medically-reviewed Rex MD Testosterone Support Supplement to your daily routine. Made from fenugreek and tongkat-ali extract, this supplement can make these lifestyle changes even more effective.
